Caring for your lease pony

What You Don’t Have To Do

When you choose to Adopt A Pony, you enjoy the joys of having ponies for kids without the full responsibility that comes with owning your own horse or pony.

You won’t have to feed your pony or wait around until it finishes its feed each night like other responsible horse owners – we’ll handle that for you.

You don’t need to take rugs off in the mornings and put them back on at night – that’s part of our care.

You also won’t need to carve out time from your day to be at the agistment when your pony needs its feet trimmed or requires a vet – that’s our responsibility.

Plus, you won't be billed for farrier or vet fees either – we cover those costs.

You won’t have to clean out pony poo from paddocks – we’ve got that side of pony care all taken care of.

And there’s no need to pay for additional tack, equipment, or repairs – we’re the lucky ones who manage that too! :)

What You Do have To Do

But you will get to enjoy this aspect of pony 'ownership' with the Adopt A Pony leasing program, which is something that you don't get to experience often (if at all) when you're enrolled in a riding school.

With Adopt A Pony, you’ll have the chance to catch your pony when you come to see it, groom him, saddle up, and go for a ride. You can lead your child on the pony and stay with them during your visit, unless they are independent, older riders leasing a bigger pony. After your ride, you’ll unsaddle, put your tack away, and groom your pony again. Mix up a small ‘thank you’ feed before taking your pony back to the paddock. Don't forget to put away any other equipment you used, such as buckets or grooming tools, and clean up any droppings from the tie-up area.

In the summer, have fun shampooing your pony in the horse wash area, and give bareback riding a try. You can also simply enjoy taking your pony for a walk and having a picnic in the back paddock or playing in the playground before or after your ride. As a family, parents will have the opportunity to meet other parents who are enjoying the same activity, while the kids get to connect with other kids their age, all sharing a common love for ponies! Additionally, enjoy community days we organize at our property several times a year, featuring bonfire nights, BBQs, and more.
